Quiet, light, energy (2021) is a mixed-media installation resulting from a weeklong excursion to Fowler's Gap Research Station located in rural New South Wales. The artwork seeks to understand the embodied human connection to the land from indigenous and western perspectives by featuring rocks and their inherent energy as the standard line of enquiry. A transparent and abstracted three-dimensional model represents traces of rocky outcrops located at Fowler's Gap. Positioning the model in front of a projected video of the landscape produces unique and aura-like imagery as light bends and refracts as it passes through. In addition, a ten-minute soundscape of an empty Fowler's Gap environment recorded before sunrise plays softly in the background to emphasise the sense of subtle energy.
